WHAT ARE THE STEPS FOR A BEAUTY ROUTINE?
By definition, a routine is considered monotonous. However, when it comes to facial care, it is far from being a boring activity. On the contrary! It is rather a small daily pleasure to magnify the appearance of your skin.
But where to start? In this article, you will find some great tips for creating a beauty routine that suits your needs!
WHY ADOPT A BEAUTY ROUTINE?
Do you ever forget to remove your makeup before going to bed…? And in the morning, do you feel too rushed for time to take care of your face? Do you think that a simple spray of water will be enough to start the day off on the right foot? Be careful! No matter what shortcuts you take, they are often bad practices when it comes to your skin. The risks are as follows:
- Apparition d’imperfections;
- Clogged pores;
- Teint terne;
- Acceleration of skin aging;
And for fresh and radiant skin at all times, just using a day cream is not enough! A good skincare routine, adapted to your skin type, is essential to adopt.
THE EVENING ROUTINE IN 5 STEPS
The day is finally over! What beauty routines should you do before going to bed? In what order should you apply your products to maximize their effects during the night? Discover our instructions for a complete evening routine!
Step 1: Remove makeup
To keep your skin healthy and avoid irritation, you need to remove your makeup every night! Makeup-free skin is the essential starting point for a good beauty routine.
- Pour eye makeup remover generously onto a cotton pad.
- Apply the pad to your closed eyes. Leave the product on for at least 30 seconds. This pause time allows the makeup remover to soak into the eyelashes and eyelids and dissolve as much makeup as possible.
- Glide the pad over your lashes and eyelids, from top to bottom.
Did you know?
To avoid drying out your skin, opt for a cream or oil-based makeup remover. If you use a waterproof mascara, an oil-based makeup remover will be necessary.
Step 2: Clean
Once your eye makeup is removed, continue with a good cleansing of your entire face.
- Wash your hands.
- Use a cleanser that is appropriate for your age and skin type. For example, cleansing milk respects the skin’s properties while removing impurities.
- Apply the product using circular motions, then remove the excess with a tissue.
- Rinse your face with clean, lukewarm water.
- Pat skin dry with a soft, clean towel.
For an express solution , use makeup remover wipes . Warning! This product does not clean deeply. Be sure to sanitize your face after removing excess makeup with a wipe.
Did you know? Do you have normal or
oily skin ? You can wash your face with water. However, avoid doing it in the shower! Hot water can dry out your skin and cause redness.
Dry skin does not tolerate the limescale in water well. Instead, opt for a no-rinse cleanser, such as a cleansing milk or micellar water .
Step 3: Tone
Originally designed to counteract the stripping effect of some cleansers, toning lotion helps restore the skin’s pH after cleansing. Its use is less essential today, but this product remains the ideal treatment for removing the last traces of makeup. In addition to refreshing and softening the skin, toning lotion helps absorb the ingredients of future treatments.
- Place a small amount of toner on a damp cotton pad.
- Glide the pad over your entire face. You can also pat the skin.
- Avoid rubbing your skin when applying the toner to avoid irritating your skin.
Did you know?
A toner with salicylic or glycolic acid is highly recommended for oily skin . It makes pores less visible and regulates sebum production.
Step 4 (as needed): Mask and serums
The sheet mask is perfect for topping up on the go with hydration! No need to wait to enjoy its effects; as soon as you remove it, your skin is clearer, smoother and more supple.
- Follow the instructions on the package and allow the formula to penetrate.
- Massage your face once the sheet is removed.
Beauty serums are targeted treatments depending on your skin type (hydration, anti-wrinkle, pigmentation disorder, dilated pores , loss of elasticity).
- For quick absorption, apply the serum to skin while it is still damp
- By pressing the pump on your bottle twice, you will have enough product to coat your face and neck.
Important! In a serum, the active ingredients are 3 to 5 times higher than in a cream. Before using this type of care, it is recommended to carry out a skin test. Apply a small drop of serum to the skin. After 24 hours, you will see how your skin reacts.
Step 5: Moisturize
With lotion, cream or gel, facial hydration is just as important in the evening as in the morning! Indeed, during sleep, the night moisturizer fills the skin’s deficiencies and restores its hydration.
- Apply a small amount of night cream to the palm of your hand.
- Rub hands together to warm active ingredients.
- Spread the product starting at the neck, from top to bottom, then from the inside to the outside.
- Lightly pat the face, neck and décolleté to stimulate blood and lymphatic circulation.
- For a little boost of hydration, apply a facial oil over your night cream. This is the last treatment to use on your skin. Oil is a fatty substance that prevents most products from reaching the epidermis.
Did you know?
The delicate skin under your eyes is different from that on your face. It therefore requires special care. Choose an eye cream according to the degree of dryness and the condition of your dark circles, fine lines and bags.
THE 2-STEP MORNING ROUTINE
If you have cleansed your face well before going to sleep, the morning routine becomes very easy! It allows you to purify your skin while ensuring better penetration of your day care products.
Step 1: Refresh
To refresh your skin when you wake up, forget about a cold shower! Instead, opt for thermal water . It is very effective in reducing redness and desensitizing the skin.
- Spray a light mist over the entire face.
- Let dry.
Step 2: Protect
Choosing your day cream is important! This treatment must match your skin type (oily, combination or dry ).
- Apply the day cream like the evening cream.
- Warm the product between your hands to make it more fluid.
- Spread the cream in downward motions over your face, neck and décolleté.
Important! Remember to protect your skin from the sun . Choose a sunscreen that is suitable for your skin.
- Protection with an SPF between 30 and 50 is perfect for spring and summer.
- Protection with SPF 15 is sufficient for the gray days of autumn and winter.
